Baquacil

Brand · part of Sigura (Solenis)

Baquacil is a chlorine-free pool sanitizing system based on polyhexamethylene biguanide (PHMB), a biguanide originally developed as a surgical disinfectant and adapted for pool use by ICI Americas (later Zeneca) around 1980. The system pairs a sanitizer/algistat with an oxidizer and is sold alongside the chlorine-free spa line BaquaSpa. The brand is now owned by Innovative Water Care within Solenis's Pool Solutions division, reaching Solenis via Sigura after the 2021 merger.
